Niceville is a city in Okaloosa County, Florida near Eglin Air Force Base. In 1868, when mail service started, the city was known as Boggy. On November 5, 1910, the city was officially changed to Niceville. The name was chosen by the postmaster’s daughter. In 1915, Niceville became part of the newly created Okaloosa County after previously being in Walton County, FL. The city covers an area of 11.3 square miles. Nearly 12,000 people reside within the city and there are nearly 5,000 homes that accommodate them.
